Rex Ryan celebrated America’s birthday in classic Rex Ryan style this past weekend, capturing the spotlight even when away from ESPN’s studios. The former NFL coach was seen enjoying some downtime with former ESPN colleagues Sage Steele and Sam Ponder, but it wasn’t just the company that turned heads—it was Rex’s bold fashion statement.

Sporting red, white, and blue swim trunks, Ryan’s t-shirt was the real conversation starter, emblazoned with the cheeky phrase “Just Here To Bang” paired with a festive firecracker motif. Needless to say, it didn’t take long for the shirt to become the star of social media.

The humorous and patriotic tee quickly went viral, eliciting reactions from all over. Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin simply responded with, “🤦🏼‍♂️,” while others gleefully chimed in with comments like, “That’s my coach right there!” and “Gotta be the most American shirt I’ve seen in years.”

Fans didn’t hold back on sharing their amusement: “His shirt is fantastic,” one said. Another fan humorously warned, “Man, you better get on some close-toed shoes when ya come round Rex.” Amidst the laughter, there were calls for next year’s shirt already, with one fan jokingly suggesting, “Next year if I don’t see a ‘Feet and Fireworks’ shirt he has let me down.”

Even FOX correspondent Joe Concha weighed in, rooting for Ryan to maintain his quintessential charm: “Rex Ryan–don’t ever change.”

Known for his outsized personality, Rex Ryan’s choice of apparel shouldn’t have been much of a surprise. He’s always been the life of the party, and this 4th of July, he proved once again why he’s a fan favorite both on and off the field.
