It’s that time of year again, folks – the end of the NFL regular season, which means some coaches are packing their bags and some new faces are stepping in. Let’s take a look at some of the top coaching candidates and where they might land.
Ben Johnson (Detroit Lions Offensive Coordinator)
This guy is hot property! Johnson has orchestrated a top-notch offense in Detroit, and teams with young quarterbacks are drooling over the possibility of him working his magic for them. The Chicago Bears, with their rising star Caleb Williams, seem like a perfect fit. Johnson could help Williams reach his full potential and turn the Bears into an offensive juggernaut.
Kliff Kingsbury (Washington Commanders Offensive Coordinator)
Kingsbury is another offensive guru who’s getting a lot of attention.1 He’s done wonders with Jayden Daniels in Washington, and a reunion with Caleb Williams, his former quarterback at USC, could be in the cards. The Bears might be tempted to go with Kingsbury if they miss out on Johnson.
Aaron Glenn (Detroit Lions Defensive Coordinator)
Glenn is a rising star on the defensive side of the ball. He’s learned from the best under Dan Campbell in Detroit, and he’s ready to lead his own team. The New York Jets, who are desperate for a defensive turnaround, could be a good landing spot for Glenn.
Joe Brady (Buffalo Bills Offensive Coordinator)
Brady has helped Josh Allen become an MVP candidate, and now he’s ready for a head coaching gig of his own. The New Orleans Saints, who need a fresh start and a new quarterback, could be an ideal destination for Brady. He could bring his offensive expertise to the Big Easy and help the Saints rebuild.
Brian Flores (Minnesota Vikings Defensive Coordinator)
Flores is a proven head coach with a strong defensive background. He’s done a fantastic job with the Vikings, and he could bring that same intensity and leadership to the Dallas Cowboys. Mike McCarthy’s job security is in question after a disappointing season, and Flores could be the guy to take over in Dallas.
Liam Coen (Tampa Bay Buccaneers Offensive Coordinator)
Coen has a knack for developing quarterbacks, as evidenced by his work with Will Levis at Kentucky and Baker Mayfield in Tampa Bay. The New York Jets, who are still searching for their franchise quarterback, could be intrigued by Coen’s ability to elevate the offense.
Mike Vrabel
Vrabel is a former Super Bowl champion and a respected leader. He was recently let go by the Browns, but he’s already generating interest from other teams. The Las Vegas Raiders, who are looking for a coach to bring back their winning culture, could be a perfect match for Vrabel.
Bobby Slowik
Slowik is a young, up-and-coming coach who’s known for his offensive creativity.2 He’s done a great job with the Texans, and he could be the guy to unlock Trevor Lawrence’s potential in Jacksonville. The Jaguars might be ready to move on from Doug Pederson, and Slowik could be the fresh start they need.
Pete Carroll
Carroll is a veteran coach with a Super Bowl ring on his finger.3 He’s been successful everywhere he’s gone, and he could bring that same winning mentality to the New York Giants. If the Giants decide to part ways with Brian Daboll, Carroll could be the experienced leader they need.
Jon Gruden
Gruden is a controversial figure, but he’s also a proven winner. He’s been out of the league for a while, but he’s reportedly interested in returning to coaching. The Indianapolis Colts, who are looking for a strong leader to guide their team, could be a good fit for Gruden.
It’s going to be a wild coaching carousel this offseason, and these are just a few of the names to keep an eye on. Who will land where? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: it’s going to be an exciting ride!
