Joe Burrow Won’t Change Contract to Make Room for Additional Players

Joe Burrow is a stand-up guy. He led the Bengals to a great season in 2024, but they missed the playoffs. Now, with several key players needing new contracts, Burrow has offered to restructure his own deal to help the team keep the gang together.

But here’s the thing: he doesn’t need to. The Bengals have plenty of cap space to take care of Tee Higgins, Trey Hendrickson, Jamarr Chase, and even add some more talent through free agency and the draft.

Restructuring a contract is a common tool in the NFL, but it’s not always the best option. It can create problems down the road, and the Bengals are in a position where they can avoid that for now.

The Bengals have no excuse for not improving the roster this offseason. They have the cap space, they have a franchise quarterback, and they have a talented core of players. It’s time for them to step up and build a championship-caliber team around Joe Burrow.
