The Bengals had a disappointing 2024 season, but they have a chance to bounce back in 2025. However, they’ll need to make some improvements on defense, and adding a veteran presence like J.J. Watt could be a huge boost.
Watt, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, retired in 2022, but he’s recently hinted at a possible return to the NFL. He jokingly agreed to join the Bengals if Burnley FC goalkeeper James Trafford didn’t concede a goal for the rest of the season. Well, Trafford has been on fire, keeping a clean sheet in nine straight games!
Watt has acknowledged the situation with a few lighthearted posts on social media, even mentioning his love for Cincinnati staples like Graeter’s Ice Cream and Montgomery Inn BBQ.
While it’s still a long shot, the possibility of Watt joining the Bengals is definitely intriguing. He’d bring a ton of experience and leadership to a defense that needs a spark. And who knows, maybe those Cincy treats will be enough to lure him back to the NFL.
