Former Dolphins RB Sign Huge Contract With the Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders have bolstered their running back corps with the addition of veteran Raheem Mostert, who has agreed to a one-year deal. This move comes after Mostert’s release from the Miami Dolphins, where he spent three seasons. The 32-year-old running back brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to a Raiders team that struggled significantly with its ground game last season.

Mostert’s tenure with the Dolphins saw him accumulate 2,181 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in 44 games. While his 2023 season was a standout, earning him his first Pro Bowl selection with 1,012 yards and a league-leading 21 total touchdowns, his production declined in 2024. This decrease was largely attributed to the emergence of De’Von Achane as the Dolphins’ primary back.

The Raiders’ running back room, which currently includes Zamir White, Sincere McCormick, and Chris Collier, will benefit from Mostert’s presence. If he can recapture the form he displayed in 2022 and 2023, he could be a valuable asset to the Raiders’ offense. The team’s struggles in the running game, averaging a league-low 79.8 yards per game, highlight the need for improvement in this area.

It is anticipated that the Raiders will continue to strengthen their running back position through the upcoming NFL Draft. Mock drafts have suggested the team may target Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty early in the draft.

Mostert’s career includes stints with the San Francisco 49ers, where he showcased his explosive running style, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. His performance in the 2019 NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers, where he rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns, stands as a testament to his capabilities.

With 3,791 rushing yards and 42 total touchdowns over his 10-year NFL career, Mostert brings valuable experience and a proven ability to contribute to a team’s offensive success.
