The New York Jets endured another heartbreaking loss on Sunday, falling 28-27 to the Indianapolis Colts in front of a frustrated home crowd.
Despite holding an eight-point lead in the fourth quarter, the Jets couldn’t seal the deal, adding another chapter to a season filled with disappointment.
Considering the ultra-high expectations the team had entering this season, it’s no exaggeration to call the 2024 Jets one of – if not THE – most disappointing teams in franchise history.
Amazing, Gang Green now finds itself with a disastrous 3-8 record.
Having lost seven of their last eight games, their playoff hopes are essentially non-existent and morale around the team has never been worse.
After the game, quarterback Aaron Rodgers, visibly somber, was asked how he plans to stay motivated for the remainder of a season that has spiraled out of control.
His response offered very little inspiration: “I’m in my 20th year so I’ve figured out a way to do this for a long time so you’ve just got to remember why you fell in love with this game,” he said. “This will be definitely a week to clear all of our heads and come back and stick together.”
In fairness to Rodgers, there wasn’t much he could say that would help any Jets fan feel any better. However, his poor demeanor and body language only made matters worse.
Needless to say, Rodgers’ postgame press conference quickly went viral on social media…
“I’d hope anyone that makes tens of millions of dollars can “stay motivated” to play a game for a living. The fans won’t care, at least they shouldn’t. No reason the players can’t try hard at their job like everyone else in the world.”
“This guy makes me throw up in my mouth when he speaks.”
“I think he never came out of his darkness vacation.”
“R-E-T-I-R-E Retire Retire Retire.”
“Seems to me, that hasn’t figured out a way to do anything other than to lose games and blame others for his mistakes.”
“Do us all a favor. Retire.”
“It’s time to realize your outsmarting yourself if you even call it that you need to help lift guys up and be a leader that’s what everyone is expecting and you haven’t done it nows your chance to earn some goodwill for next year with a coaching staff and earn the chance to play.”
What are your thoughts on Rodgers and the Jets this season?
Aaron stated that he intends to return in 2025. However, do you think that would be a mistake?
Just how much blame does he deserve for this nightmare season???
