The Buffalo Bills continued their unstoppable march through the NFL with a commanding 35-10 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, extending their winning streak to seven games.
Despite heavy snow blanketing the field, the Bills demonstrated their impressive dominance as they officially clinched the AFC East.
Led by All-World quarterback Josh Allen, the Bills are firing on all cylinders.
Allen, in the midst of a career-defining season, bolstered his case for his first MVP award with a standout performance against San Francisco.
The 28-year-old quarterback threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns, ran for an eight-yard score, and even caught a touchdown pass, showcasing his versatility in adverse weather.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith praised Allen on First Take, labeling him the clear front-runner for the NFL’s MVP award. “There’s no way around it,” Smith declared.
Smith highlighted the challenges Allen has faced this season, including injuries and roster changes.
“You lost Stefon Diggs, you lost Gabe Davis, you got Keon Coleman – there’s a rookie coming in – (but) he’s hurt,” Smith said.
“You acquire Amari Cooper in the middle of the season from Cleveland, and with Josh, the Buffalo Bills look like they have not missed a beat. … They look absolutely tremendous.”
Smith also emphasized Allen’s ability to excel under adverse conditions, pointing to his performance in Sunday’s snowy showdown.
“When you see him perform the way that he performed in that inclement weather (against the 49ers), you know what he could do under normal conditions,” Smith added.
“Under adverse conditions, it’s little to no difference. Josh Allen, no matter what the conditions are, no matter where he is, no matter what adverse circumstances he’s faced with, he has shown up.
“That is what a league MVP is made of right now.”
The Bills are off to their best start since 1991 and are showing no signs of slowing down.
As they prepare to face the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday, the team remains focused on extending their winning streak and solidifying their position as Super Bowl contenders.
