Well, it looks like the Washington Commanders might be packing their bags and heading back to where it all began! The RFK Stadium Bill just passed the Senate, and that could pave the way for the team to return to Washington, D.C.
This bill is a big deal because it gives D.C. control of the RFK Stadium site, which has been under federal jurisdiction for years. The Commanders played at RFK Stadium from 1961 to 1996, and now it looks like they might be coming home.
The Senate passed the bill with a unanimous vote – that’s right, all 100 senators said “yes”! It’s now headed to President Biden’s desk for his signature.
The Commanders currently play at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, but RFK Stadium holds a lot of history for the franchise. Of course, the stadium would need some serious renovations to bring it up to modern standards, but it’s an exciting possibility for the team and its fans.
This move has been a long time coming, and it’s great to see things finally moving forward. It’s a win for the Commanders, for D.C., and for football fans everywhere. Who knows, maybe a return to their old stomping grounds will be just what the Commanders need to get back to their winning ways!
