Chiefs Will Look to Find Kelce’s Replacement This Offseason

The Kansas City Chiefs have some work to do this offseason if they want to get back to the Super Bowl. They need to address some key positions, and they need to make sure they have the right players in place to support Patrick Mahomes.

Here are five moves the Chiefs should make:

  1. Find a successor for Travis Kelce: Kelce is nearing the end of his career, and the Chiefs need to start planning for the future. They should target a tight end in the draft, such as Colston Loveland or Elijah Arroyo.
  2. Restructure Patrick Mahomes’ contract: Mahomes has a massive cap hit in 2025, and the Chiefs need to free up some space. Restructuring his contract would give them more flexibility to make other moves.
  3. Re-sign Trey Smith: Smith is a key part of the Chiefs’ offensive line, and they need to keep him in Kansas City. They should prioritize re-signing him, even if it means paying him a bit more than they’d like.
  4. Draft a left tackle: The Chiefs’ offensive line struggled last season, and they need to find a reliable left tackle to protect Mahomes. Aireontae Ersery would be a great addition to their offensive line.
  5. Shore up the defensive line: The Chiefs need to add some depth to their defensive line, both in free agency and the draft. B.J. Hill would be a good addition in free agency, and Deone Walker would be a solid pick in the draft.

The Chiefs have a lot of talent, but they need to make some smart moves this offseason to stay competitive. If they can address these five areas, they’ll be in a good position to make another Super Bowl run.
