The Texans were Super Bowl favorites heading into the season, but they stumbled their way to a 9-8 record and a fourth seed in the AFC. Stroud, after a stellar rookie season, struggled with turnovers and inconsistency in his sophomore campaign.
But in the playoffs, Stroud and the Texans looked like a different team. They dominated the Chargers, with Stroud throwing for 282 yards and a touchdown. It was a statement win that showed the Texans might be finding their groove at just the right time.
However, one playoff win doesn’t erase a season of struggles. The Texans need to show they can consistently perform at a high level against top competition. If they can beat the Chiefs or Ravens in the divisional round, then we can start talking about them as legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
Stroud has the talent to lead the Texans to a championship, but he needs to be more consistent. This playoff win was a step in the right direction, but there’s still a long way to go. The Texans need to prove they can beat the best of the best if they want to reach their full potential.
