Breece Hall To Pair Up With the Chiefs?

New York Jets running back Breece Hall is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in 2026, which opens the door for a potential trade before then. With the Jets undergoing a complete organizational overhaul — including a new general manager, new head coach, and a quarterback shift from Aaron Rodgers to Justin Fields — Hall could very well find himself in a different uniform sooner than later.

Among all potential landing spots, the Kansas City Chiefs stand out as the best possible trade partner for Hall.

Breece Hall’s NFL Production Hall came into the league with plenty of hype after a standout college career at Iowa State, where he rushed for over 1,400 yards in back-to-back seasons. He flashed early in his NFL career, but an ACL tear during his rookie campaign cut that season short. Since then, he’s remained healthy but has yet to deliver a 1,000-yard rushing season.

  • 2024: 16 games, 876 rushing yards, 4.2 YPC, 483 receiving yards, 8 TDs
  • 2023: 16 games, 994 rushing yards, 4.5 YPC, 591 receiving yards, 9 TDs
  • 2022: 7 games, 463 rushing yards, 5.8 YPC, 218 receiving yards, 5 TDs

In 2024, Hall’s touches were limited by a committee approach that featured Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis. He averaged just 12 carries per game and surpassed 100 rushing yards in a single game only once.

Why Kansas City Makes Sense There are both personal and football reasons why the Chiefs would be a perfect fit. Hall grew up just over two hours from Kansas City in Omaha, Nebraska, and played his college ball at Iowa State — only a few hours’ drive from Arrowhead Stadium. A return to the Midwest would be a homecoming of sorts.

From a roster standpoint, Kansas City has historically valued the running back position, including spending a first-round pick on Clyde Edwards-Helaire. While their current backfield features Isiah Pacheco, Carson Steele, and Kareem Hunt, only Steele is signed beyond 2025. That opens up the need for a long-term solution — and Hall could be exactly that.

For the Jets, extending Hall doesn’t make much sense with two younger backs already in the pipeline. Rather than investing heavily in the position, moving Hall while his value is high could net New York a solid return, such as a third-round pick. With Isaiah Davis and Braelon Allen ready for larger roles, this could be the perfect time for the Jets to cash in.

A potential move to Kansas City would give Hall a chance to revitalize his career in a high-powered offense, while the Jets continue to reshape their roster with an eye on the future. It’s a deal that would make sense for both sides.
