San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Demarcus Robinson is facing consequences after his arrest for driving under the influence, eight months after the incident.
The arrest took place just after 5:00 a.m. on November 25 in Los Angeles, not long after a thrilling game where the Rams were defeated 37-20 by the Philadelphia Eagles on “Sunday Night Football.” It’s a stark reminder that life off the field can sometimes mirror the unpredictability and challenges that occur on it.
In an agreement to avoid jail time, Robinson pleaded “nolo contendere,” a legal way of saying no contest, to a DUI misdemeanor charge. This plea results in a conviction without admitting guilt but still accepts the penalty, which involves 36 months of probation for the veteran receiver. He’ll also need to pay a $390 fine and attend counseling programs to satisfy the terms of his sentence.
Robinson isn’t alone in this type of off-field issue. Minnesota Vikings star wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested for drunk driving near Los Angeles International Airport, with his trial coming up on July 15. Similarly, Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Ben Cleveland also faced DUI charges in Milledgeville, Georgia, and he too is heading to trial on July 15.
It’s been a tumultuous journey for the 30-year-old receiver. After signing with the 49ers during free agency, Robinson looks to begin a new chapter in his career. Once a fourth-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016, he enjoyed the pinnacle of NFL success by winning a Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes in 2019. Fans remember those glory days well, where his contributions helped the Chiefs to lift the trophy.
Robinson’s NFL career stats show his substantial contributions: 250 receptions, totaling 3,013 yards and 27 touchdowns over nine seasons. After a season with the Ravens in 2022, he joined the Rams in 2023 before his latest move to the 49ers.
Now, the focus shifts to the upcoming season opener. Robinson and the revamped San Francisco squad are slated to take on the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on September 7, 2025. The teams had an exciting split in their 2024 encounters, with the away team winning each matchup, setting the stage for another compelling face-off in Robinson’s anticipated debut with San Francisco.
