Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, got a special shoutout just days before the Kansas City Chiefs take the field for Super Bowl LIX. Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to congratulate the couple on the birth of their third child, Golden Raye.
“Congratulations to the Chiefs’ GREAT Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, and his very beautiful and BRILLIANT wife, Brittany, on the birth of their new baby daughter, Golden Raye. This is what I call a baby with great genes, both mother and father. It’s happy times in the wonderful Mahomes family. See you all on Sunday!” Trump posted on Thursday.
Golden Raye was born just before Kansas City began their playoff push last month. Now, with Mahomes on the brink of NFL history, the timing couldn’t be more fitting. If the Chiefs win on Sunday, they’ll become the first team to ever win three consecutive Super Bowls—an achievement that would further solidify Mahomes’ legacy.
Trump is set to attend the game, joining what will be a star-studded crowd in New Orleans. His presence adds another layer of intrigue to the already electric atmosphere of the biggest night in football.
This isn’t the first time Trump has shown support for Brittany Mahomes. After she received criticism for expressing her political opinions, Trump publicly praised her, calling her “beautiful” and thanking her for defending him. The Mahomes family continues to find themselves in the middle of political and pop culture discussions, whether they like it or not.
Meanwhile, Trump made headlines for comments about Mahomes’ college career—comments that didn’t quite line up with reality. While speaking about Mahomes’ time at Texas Tech, Trump incorrectly credited former University of Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville with coaching the future MVP. The problem? Tuberville left Texas Tech in 2012, two years before Mahomes arrived on campus.
During an appearance on “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Tuberville set the record straight, saying he never actually coached Mahomes but had recruited him. Mahomes, however, disputed that claim as well.
“He did not recruit me at the time,” Mahomes told reporters, per CBS Sports. “I don’t remember if I ever got to meet him or not.”
While the mix-up might not change anything on the field, it’s yet another example of how Mahomes’ name continues to pop up in unexpected places beyond football. Regardless of the chatter, Mahomes’ focus remains locked in on Sunday’s game, where he’ll look to make history yet again.
