Myles Garrett Hints at Departure: Is This the End in Cleveland?

Myles Garrett, the cornerstone of the Cleveland Browns’ defense since 2017, has been dropping hints about a potential departure from Ohio, despite having two seasons left on his contract.

At 28, Garrett’s performance remains top-tier. Even with the Browns struggling to find their footing, he’s putting up impressive numbers: 38 tackles, 25 QB hits, 11 sacks, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery. The man’s a sack machine, consistently hitting double-digits every season since 2018. He’s undeniably lived up to the hype of being the No. 1 draft pick.

Here’s the catch: Garrett’s patience seems to be wearing thin. He’s made it clear that he’s not interested in sticking around for another rebuild. If the Browns want to keep their star defensive end, they’ll need to prove they have a solid plan to get back to the playoffs – and soon.

“I’m not trying to rebuild,” Garrett stated. “I’m trying to win now. I want to see a clear path to victory when the season ends and we have those discussions.”

It’s hard to blame Garrett for feeling this way. But the Browns have some serious challenges to overcome. Their quarterback situation is a major question mark. Deshaun Watson, despite his hefty contract, hasn’t returned to his Pro Bowl form since his return to the field.

Adding to their woes, star running back Nick Chubb has been battling injuries. Keeping Chubb healthy is crucial for their ground game, which has looked less than stellar lately.

While the defense, anchored by Garrett, remains a bright spot, even that unit has seen better days. It’s tough to shine when your offense is constantly playing catch-up.

The pressure is on for the Browns’ front office. They need to convince Garrett that they have a winning strategy in place. The offseason will be a crucial period for the Browns as they navigate these choppy waters and try to retain their defensive superstar.
