After three standout seasons at Ole Miss, quarterback Jaxson Dart is turning heads as a rising prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Known for his strong arm, competitiveness, and playmaking ability, Dart has officially entered the conversation as a potential first-round selection – with a new mock draft sending him to one of the NFL’s most storied franchises.
NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah released his latest mock draft, projecting Dart to go No. 21 overall to the Pittsburgh Steelers under veteran head coach Mike Tomlin.
“The Steelers’ plan at quarterback is not completely clear at the moment,” Jeremiah stated. “Even if they were to land 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers, they would still need a long-term option at the position, so they take another swing here with Dart.”
Dart’s draft stock has fluctuated wildly since his final college snap.
While some early projections have him going as high as third overall, others suggest he may slide to Day 2. The general consensus seems to settle somewhere between the late first and early second rounds – making the Steelers at No. 21 a very realistic landing spot.
The uncertainty in Pittsburgh’s quarterback room only adds intrigue. As Jeremiah noted, the Steelers continue to wait on Aaron Rodgers’ decision.
Even if they end up signing the four-time MVP, investing in a young quarterback like Dart would give them a long-term solution – and someone they can develop under Rodgers and Tomlin’s leadership.
Whether Dart is thrown into the fire or given time to learn behind a seasoned pro, the situation in Pittsburgh could be ideal.
With a perennially strong defense, a no-nonsense culture, and a head coach who’s never had a losing season, the infrastructure is in place to support a young signal-caller.
Dart, who set multiple records during his time in Oxford, would bring dynamic mobility and arm talent to an offense in need of a fresh spark.
If the Steelers do decide to pull the trigger on Dart, they may be getting more than just a developmental quarterback – they might be landing their next franchise cornerstone.
What are your thoughts on Jeremiah’s prediction of Dart winding up in Pittsburgh? … With or without Rodgers, would that be a smart pick at No. 21???
