Why Do The Chiefs Hate Clark Hunt???

Since 2018, the Kansas City Chiefs have established themselves as one of the NFL’s top teams, reaching five Super Bowls and winning three Lombardi’s over the past seven seasons.

They’ve dominated the AFC West each year and consistently made deep playoff runs.

Despite the team’s enormous on-field success, however, players have expressed concerns about the ownership under Clark Hunt.

In the NFL Players Association’s annual report cards released Wednesday, Hunt earned a lackluster C- grade in the ownership category, ranking 26th out of 32 NFL team owners.

The report surveys players about various aspects of their team’s operations, including ownership, facilities, team culture, and commitment to competitiveness.

One area where Hunt’s ownership was notably criticized was his “perceived willingness to invest in facilities.”

Hunt earned a below-average score of 6.61 out of 10 in this category, ranking 26th in the league.

This poor rating reflects players’ concerns that more could be done to improve their training environments and overall team infrastructure.

Hunt fared better in other categories, such as contributing to a positive team culture, where he ranked 20th out of 32 teams.

In terms of being “committed to building a competitive team,” Hunt ranked 17th, a position that raised some eyebrows.

Given the Chiefs’ stars, including Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, and head coach Andy Reid, players might feel Hunt should spend more to bolster the roster around them.

Interestingly, the Chiefs’ AFC West rivals – the Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Chargers, and Las Vegas Raiders – ranked much higher in ownership, placing 4th through 6th respectively.

Despite the criticism, Hunt is likely to consider the players’ feedback for future improvements, though it’s safe to assume he would trade a lower survey ranking for his team’s continued dominance over their divisional opponents.

The report also revealed that while the Chiefs scored poorly in categories such as locker rooms, training rooms, and weight rooms, they received high marks for their head coach and nutrition staff.

Among NFL owners, three stood out for their exceptional grades, earning A+ rankings: Stephen Ross of the Miami Dolphins, Zygi Wilf of the Minnesota Vikings, and Arthur Blank of the Atlanta Falcons.

On the other end of the spectrum, the New York Jets’ Woody Johnson received an F grade, with two other owners (Arizona’s Michael Bidwill and Carolina’s David Tepper) receiving D- ratings.
