The Kansas City Chiefs are attempting to pull off the near-impossible: Three-peating as Super Bowl champions.
Currently sitting on top of the standings with a perfect 4-0 record, they will certainly have a solid chance to pull off the incredible feat once the playoffs roll around.
However, January is a long way away and there’s no denying that the Chiefs have some concerning issues they’re dealing with.
In fairness to Andy Reid’s team, it seems like every year they battle through concerning issues and inevitably prove the doubters wrong.
Having said that, the injury suffered by explosive wide receiver Rashee Rice is worrisome, especially since Kansas City isn’t exactly deep in the skill-position department.
In many ways, Rice is lucky to be playing at all this season after his extremely dangerous street-racing crash during the off-season.
Today, the Chiefs placed Rice on injured reserve which sidelines him for at least the next four games.
Adding a bizarre layer to all of the Rice drama is the fact that his mother was allegedly caught stealing a package from a neighbor’s porch that reportedly contained Chappell Roan records. (Didn’t have that on my Bingo card.)
Security footage showed Riceās mother, wearing a red Chiefs jersey with āMomma-Riceā printed on the back during the alleged theft.
The incident occurred just hours after Rice was injured during Kansas City’s Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Needless to say, it’s absolutely disgraceful that Rice’s mother was stealing from another person. But when you add in the fact that she was wearing a “Momma-Rice” jersey while doing so… Wow.
We’ll see what, if anything, becomes of the alleged theft.
The Rice drama is on top of the ongoing frustration surrounding nine-time Pro Bowl tight end Travis Kelce.
Kelce’s numbers are way down this season – but as we all know, you can’t fully judge a tight end’s performance solely by numbers.
Having said that, Kelce is losing the benefit of the doubt with many Chiefs fans due to the fact that he’s allegedly out-of-shape and not nearly as focused on football as he used to be.
Again, the Chiefs face critics and doubters every single year – and to their credit – they more times than not overcome the obstacles.
It certainly helps when you’re led by all-timers such as Reid and Mahomes, not to mention a rock-solid front office.
As for Kelce, he’s undoubtedly one of the best tight ends of all-time. He knows how important a potential Super Bowl three-peat would be to his legacy.
In other words, don’t be surprised if he turns his season around and gets back to being the Travis Kelce that Chiefs fans have become accustomed to.
Having said that, just how concerned should Kansas City be? … Or should we know better by now not to doubt them???
