Travis Kelce Admits Taylor Swift’s Hurting His NFL Career

Since the Kansas City Chiefs’ humiliating loss in Super Bowl LIX, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift have kept a lower profile.

With both of their schedules temporarily clear, the couple is reportedly taking time away from the public eye in an effort to maintain some normalcy.

According to Us Weekly, Kelce is particularly keen on avoiding media attention, hoping to shift the narrative back to his performance on the field rather than his high-profile relationship.

“Travis wants to take [a breather] from the public eye,” a source told Us Weekly. “He was working too much last year, and he didn’t play as well as he wanted. He wants to have a good season and not have the focus be on his relationship with Taylor.”

Strategic Vision PR Group CEO and founder David E. Johnson told Us Weekly that the couple’s decision to stay out of the spotlight is a “smart move.”

“They’d become overexposed to the point we were starting to see a slight backlash against their brand. No celebrity wants to be overexposed… Limiting their exposure lends more intrigue, and their appearances garner more coverage,” Johnson said.

Another source revealed that Kelce’s decline in production is most likely the reason why he wants to scale back his public exposure off the field.

“He was working too much last year, and he didn’t play as well as he wanted,” the source said. “He wants to have a good season and not have the focus be on his relationship with Taylor.”

While Kelce’s intention seems to be regaining focus for the 2025 NFL season, some are taking a “told you so” approach.

Many fans believe his relationship with Swift played a key role in his dip in production, and think he has only himself to blame for that.

“Everyone could see he focused more on being a star than being in best form and top shape,” one fan posted on social media.

“The guy spent all off-season dancing around on stage with her and traveling around the world. Meanwhile his competition was on the field,” another fan posted.

“No. Don’t blame her! I said this after the team’s loss. They were constantly on tv selling things or on shows. He traveled the world visiting her. All of that resulted in the team’s poor performance. You Didn’t Focus On The Game. You Are Responsible And Accountable For Your Choices And Behaviors,” said another.

To Kelce’s credit, he admitted that his performance in the Super Bowl was absolutely unacceptable.

“I’m kicking myself for some of the tiny, tiny decisions I made on the field. I wasn’t the best leader I could be in motivating my guys and keeping my guys calm, cool and collected,” Kelce said on his New Heights podcast.

“I put a lot of that on myself as, you know, the guy that’s been in the building for 12 years and seen a lot of football and actually seen a situation just like this in the Super Bowl.”

While the debate over Kelce’s priorities rages on, one thing is clear: he’s focused on making sure football – not his personal life – takes center stage this upcoming season.

More importantly, just how much does Kelce have left in the tank? … Will he be able to regain his All-Pro form? Or are those days officially over???
