Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry reaffirmed on Tuesday that the team’s position regarding Myles Garrett’s trade request remains unchanged.
Much to the disappointment of Garrett, head coach Kevin Stefanski echoed similar sentiments during his most recent press conference.
Stefanski, speaking at the scouting combine, confirmed that while conversations with Garrett will remain private, he doesn’t anticipate Garrett suiting up for any other team in 2025. His plans for the offseason remain unaffected by the ongoing trade request.
“As you know, I think the world of Myles,” Stefanski said. “I understand the business of football and I understand these things happen from time to time. But I expect Myles on our team this year, next year, the year after that, and so on.
“He’s a part of the present, he’s a part of the future.”
Garrett’s trade request stems from his desire to join a team with a legitimate chance at winning a Super Bowl. However, Stefanski believes Garrett’s goal isn’t unique.
“I also want to win,” he said. “I also want to win a championship. That’s just how we’re wired. We’re working very hard toward that goal.”
Garrett, selected by the Browns as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, has become one of the franchise’s all-time greats.
In his first eight seasons, he’s tallied 102.5 sacks, maintaining double-digit sack totals every year since 2018.
Still, the Browns face challenges ahead in ensuring Garrett remains satisfied with his future in Cleveland.
What are your thoughts on the messy situation?
The Browns have every right to keep him in Cleveland if they wish. Having said that, do you think things will get very ugly if they do???
(Based on Garrett’s latest comments, it looks like they already have…)
