Super Bowl Contender Nearing Deal With Aaron Rodgers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly delayed re-signing their two free-agent quarterbacks, and the reason for the holdup appears to be none other than Aaron Rodgers.

According to Gerry Dulac of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Rodgers and the Steelers are “getting close” to a deal.

Rodgers is now a free agent after the New York Jets informed him they were moving in a different direction following two seasons together and a coaching change.

With the future of their quarterback situation still uncertain, the Steelers are keeping an eye on potential options, including Rodgers.

As the Steelers head into the offseason, they have left the door open for Russell Wilson or Justin Fields to return, after the team made it to the playoffs last season.

Fields posted a 4-2 record, but Wilson took over after recovering from a calf injury, leading the team for the remainder of the season.

Wilson, who previously played alongside DK Metcalf with the Seattle Seahawks, has also been a key figure in the Steelers’ plans.

In a move to bolster their receiving corps, the Steelers recently acquired wide receiver DK Metcalf, completing a two-year pursuit of a top-tier option for their passing game.

Now, with Metcalf in the fold, the Steelers are reportedly considering adding a new quarterback, including the possibility of Rodgers.

The news is slightly surprising since there were indications early on that Mike Tomlin and company were actually not too interested in the four-time MVP.

Having said that, Rodgers-to-Pittsburgh makes a ton of sense, and by all accounts, the Steelers are now all-in on pursuing Rodgers.

Rodgers, who is a 10-time Pro Bowler and future Hall of Famer, put up impressive numbers in 2024, passing for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns.

Some have been eager to bury Rodgers, but the fact of the matter is he can still play at a high level, especially in the right situation.

Rodgers has also been linked to the New York Giants as a potential target, adding more uncertainty to the quarterback market as teams look to secure their future at the position.

Now that we know the Steelers are indeed in on Rodgers, do you think it’s a foregone conclusion that he winds up in Pittsburgh???
