Super Bowl Contender Likely To Land Cooper Kupp

After an impressive first season under head coach Dan Quinn, the Washington Commanders appear eager to build on their momentum – and they might be eyeing a major offensive weapon to do it.

Coming off a surprise run to the NFC Championship Game with a rookie quarterback at the helm, Washington is reportedly a team to watch in the pursuit of Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the veteran receiver is on the trading block for the first time in his career, and the Commanders are among the teams that could make a move.

“[The Los Angeles Rams would] prefer to get some sort of compensation for him. They’re going to save at least $7 million on their cap by doing so,” Fowler said.

“Talking to people around the league, [Kupp] will have a market because he’s so quarterback friendly … Certainly Washington is looking for a complimentary No. 2 receiver.”

Kupp’s skill set makes him a valuable asset for any offense.

His precise High-IQ route-running, sure hands, and willingness to block in the run game have made him one of the most well-rounded receivers in the entire league.

Even before Matthew Stafford’s arrival in Los Angeles, Kupp was a dynamic playmaker in Sean McVay’s offense. But with Stafford under center, Kupp reached another level – culminating in a historic 2021 season where he won the receiving triple crown and was named Super Bowl MVP.

However, injuries have slowed Kupp in recent seasons, and at 31, he may no longer be at his peak.

Still, for a team with championship aspirations, the veteran receiver could be the missing piece to push them over the top – assuming they’re willing to absorb his sizable cap hit.

For the Commanders, adding Kupp would signal a clear intent to compete at the highest level.

Washington has already begun reshaping its image following the Dan Snyder era, and making aggressive moves like this could further distance the franchise from its tumultuous past.

The decision ultimately rests with the Rams, who may choose to hold onto Kupp if they don’t receive the right offer.

But if Washington sees him as a crucial piece to take their offense to the next level, don’t be surprised if they make a strong push to land the former Super Bowl MVP.

What are your thoughts on the Commanders being a possible landing spot for Kupp???
