Steelers Nearing Blockbuster Trade For DK Metcalf

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver D.K. Metcalf has officially requested a trade, setting the stage for a potential blockbuster move this offseason.

According to multiple reports, Metcalf met with the Seahawks’ front office this week and made it clear he wants out.

Seattle appears willing to explore trade possibilities, which has already drawn interest from multiple teams – including one who has been particularly aggressive.

Pittsburgh Steelers insider Zachary Smith, host of Steelers Afternoon Drive, revealed that the Steelers have already reached out to Seattle regarding Metcalf’s availability.

“The Steelers are absolutely in on DK Metcalf. How aggressive of an offer will they put on the table? Idk. They’ve already made a call though. Just as they did last year,” Smith reported on X.

The Steelers have been actively searching for a top-tier receiver to complement George Pickens.

Last offseason, they aggressively pursued 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk, but he ultimately signed an extension to stay in San Francisco.

When that plan fell through, Pittsburgh made a push for Mike Williams before the NFL trade deadline, but that move failed to provide the impact they needed.

Now, with Metcalf on the trade market, the Steelers are reportedly back in the mix.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound receiver remains one of the most dominant pass-catchers in the league, finishing the 2024 season with 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns.

Since entering the NFL in 2019, he has posted three 1,000-yard seasons and has never dipped below 900 yards in a single campaign.

His best season came in 2020 when he hauled in 83 passes for 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Seattle is reportedly asking for trade package involving both a 1st and 3rd round pick. (Quite hefty to say the least.)

In addition, Metcalf will be asking his new team for a contract extension which averages at least $30 million per season.

If the Steelers manage to land him, he and Pickens would form one of the most dangerous receiving duos in the AFC.

While Pittsburgh still has major questions at quarterback, the organization appears determined to make aggressive moves this offseason.

If the reports are true, the Steelers could soon be making a significant splash by acquiring Metcalf.

What are your thoughts on the DK situation? … Will he indeed end up in Pittsburgh???
