As (official) NFL free agency approaches, there’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding where New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will land.
That is, unless you ask former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown, who says he knows exactly where Rodgers is going.
The former Steelers great took to X, claiming that his “sources” have revealed that Rodgers will be signing a two-year contract with Pittsburgh.
Using the hashtag #CTESPN, which he coined, Brown wrote: “CTESPN always has it first… Deal is finalized… Aaron Rodgers to the Steelers… 2 year deal…. #CTESPN most trusted source in all of sports.”
While Brown’s assertion caught the attention of many NFL fans, reactions were mixed. After all, it’s not like AB has proven to be a beacon of reliability.
Regardless, Brown has indeed nailed a few NFL scoops, and the fact that this one has to do with his old team has social media talking…
“AB is the top source.”
“If Pittsburgh pays @AaronRodgers12 anything close to $20/per… I’m reporting Rooney, @CoachTomlin and the entire @steelers front office to @DOGE and @elonmusk, DEMANDING an investigation opened immediately into the wasteful spending.”
“If true, then welcome to the Steelers @AaronRodgers12. The number 12 has been lucky for us in the past.”
“This is a big pickup for the Steelers. How many more games does Rodgers have in him?”
“He’s coming to Minnesota.”
“AB continues the generational run…”
While it’s tough to take Antonio Brown’s claims at face value due to his unpredictable behavior online, it’s worth noting that he’s a former NFL player with possible connections within the league.
Despite his checkered past, it’s not entirely out of the question that Brown might have some inside information, especially considering his history of playing in Pittsburgh.
There’s also no shortage of speculation surrounding the possibility of Rodgers joining the Steelers.
With Pittsburgh’s offense struggling at times, a (still) high-level veteran quarterback like Rodgers could provide the much-needed boost to push the team back into legitimate Super Bowl contention.
The Steelers have made the playoffs in three of the last four seasons, despite inconsistent quarterback play, and Rodgers could be the key to getting the team over the hump.
For now, we can only wait and see if Brown’s scoop turns out to be true, or if the speculation remains just that: speculation.
One thing’s for certain – if it happens, it would be one of the most talked-about moves of the offseason.
There is a very real possibility that we could receive official confirmation as soon as today. Perhaps even within the hour.
What are your thoughts on AB’s report? … This is probably a silly question, but do you trust him???
