Shocking Update On Rob Gronkowski’s NFL Comeback

Rumors of Rob Gronkowski making an NFL comeback set the sports world abuzz last night, but NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport wasted no time shutting them down.

“Nope. Nonsense,” Rapoport shot on X in response to the rumors.

The initial report came from Cecil Lammey of FootballGuys.com, who, in a video from Indianapolis, claimed Gronkowski was considering a return.

“Rob Gronkowski wants to return to the NFL,” Lammey said. “He likes what’s he’s seen from Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix and of course he has a relationship with [head coach] Sean Payton from their time working together at FOX Sports.”

Lammey doubled down on the report in an article for DenverSports.com, noting that Gronkowski’s brothers, Chris and Dan, had brief stints with the Broncos over a decade ago.

“Two of his brothers, Chris and Dan, both had short stints with the team over 10 years ago and I’ve heard the Gronkowski family loves the city and the team,” he added.

However, Gronkowski, who turns 36 in May, hasn’t played since retiring for the second time in 2021. He appears content in his role as a FOZ Sports studio analyst.

Despite Lammey’s claims, Rapoport wasn’t alone in his skepticism.

Social media users piled on, using words like “ridiculous,” “misinformation,” “clickbait,” and “fake news” to describe the report.

On that note, FOX NFL insider Jordan Schultz contacted Gronkowski about the report. Unfortunately for those wishing to see more Gronk spikes, the future Hall of Famer shut down the dream.

“Crazy bro. They must know something about me that I don’t. I wish I still had those powers, because that would be cool if I did. But I was just in Australia for a few days. Now it’s time to relax a little. No football,” Gronkowski told Schultz.

While Lammey may have a source within the Broncos organization, it seems like the rumors of Gronkowski making an NFL return are indeed nonsense.

Having said that, many people feel that Gronk retired way too soon and had plenty left in the tank when he decided to walk away.

Unless he changes his mind, it looks like we’ll have to continue to put up with the dynamic Patriot trio of Gronkowski, Tom Brady, and Julian Edelman on FOX.

Now, while we’re on the subject, is there ANY part of you that feels Gronk has one more NFL comeback left in him? … Or is he indeed retired for good???
