The New York Jets endured yet another brutal defeat on Sunday, falling 40-14 to the Buffalo Bills.
Although the Jets were not expected to win the game, the lopsided score and a peculiar pregame scene added insult to injury.
As the team prepared to enter the field, their boombox blasted Coolio’s iconic track, “Gangsta’s Paradise.”
However, the choice of song struck many as ironic given the players’ visibly subdued demeanor.
In comparison, the sight of the San Francisco 49ers blasting their pregame boombox often exudes energy and excitement. (Although that adrenaline hasn’t worked much this season.)
“Flat team, zero dogs, zero leadership, just a pathetic team,” a Jets fan commented on X.
“If you’re 4-11, your boombox privileges get revoked,” another fan added.
“Doing this and not even having a single point going into the 4th quarter, lol,” another chimed.
The game itself was a complete rout.
The Bills scored 40 unanswered points before pulling their starters, allowing the Jets to salvage two meaningless touchdowns in garbage time.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers struggled, throwing two interceptions and no touchdowns before being benched midway through the second half.
According to Rodgers, the benching was prompted by his suggestion that backup Tyrod Taylor should take over.
Needless to say, this was something that rubbed a lot of Jets fans the wrong way…
Adding to Gang Green’s woes are rumors of tension between Rodgers and star wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that their relationship has been strained since training camp, with the friction becoming more public over the past week.
Wilson, clearly frustrated with his role in the offense, voiced his dissatisfaction after the Jets’ Week 16 loss to the Rams.
“I’d like to be involved, love to make an impact on the game, but people see it differently. That’s out of my control,” Wilson said at the time.
Rapoport suggested that if Rodgers returns for the 2025 season, Wilson may request a trade.
Entering the fourth year of his rookie contract, Wilson could command significant value on the trade market, giving the Jets an opportunity to reset amid ongoing struggles.
For now, the Jets’ season continues to spiral as fans and players alike question the direction of the franchise.
With a 4-12 record and only one game left in the season, it’s safe to call the Aaron Rodgers Jets tenure one of the biggest disappointments in NFL history.
Where do you think he will be playing next season? … Or is next Sunday the final time we will see Rodgers on a football field???
