Shocking Details Emerge From Aaron Rodgers’ Private Meeting With Jets

The New York Jets are officially turning the page at quarterback.

After two incredibly frustrating seasons with Aaron Rodgers on the roster, the team has decided to move in a different direction ahead of the 2025 NFL season.

Despite their high hopes when acquiring the four-time MVP, the experiment never came close to delivering the expected results.

The Jets missed the playoffs in back-to-back seasons, including a 5-12 finish in 2024, leading the new front office and coaching staff to make a clean break at the position.

“Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback,” new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey said of the decision.

It’s clear that Rodgers still wants to play. He will now look for a new home in what could be the final chapter of his Hall of Fame career.

While some speculated whether Rodgers might fight to stay in New York, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini made it clear that both sides were on the same page about moving on.

“I think for this new regime, they felt that this needs to be a fresh start. So when they met late last week or two weeks ago now, the conversation was friendly,” Russini said on The Rich Eisen Show.

“There was no anger or bitterness. It was, ‘Hey look, if you were to stay, here’s how we would want it to go.

“I’ll just go with what I know and nobody had shared with me that Rodgers was begging to stay a New York Jet. In fact, this entire time I knew that Aaron Rodgers wanted his time in New York to come to an end as well. He knew this chapter was over a while ago.”

Russini also noted that while the meeting between Rodgers and the Jets was amicable, it was clear that the new regime felt the need for a fresh start at quarterback.

The recent report that Rodgers “begged” the Jets to keep him was always hard to believe. (Can you really picture Rodgers begging anyone???)

If you choose to believe Russini, not only was Rodgers perfectly fine with moving on from the Jets, he was hoping to do so all along.

Rodgers, who threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions in 2024, is expected to garner interest around the league.

The Steelers, Raiders, Vikings, Giants, and Rams have all been mentioned as possible landing spots.

At the end of the day, where do you think he will end up?

(On a side note, how poorly has last year’s Hard Knocks aged???)
