As the 2025 NFL Draft approaches, the quarterback class continues to generate plenty of buzz.
Headlining the group are Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, both expected to go towards the top of the first round. Behind them, players like Jaxson Dart, Quinn Ewers, Will Howard, and Jalen Milroe offer intriguing upside.
But beyond the well-known names, one veteran signal-caller is starting to make major waves as a potential sleeper: Louisville’s Tyler Shough.
Shough, who spent seven years in college football and played six seasons, is gaining momentum as draft day nears. Once under the radar, he’s now attracting national attention from respected analysts.
Todd McShay, one of the most prominent voices in the NFL draft world, recently made a bold prediction about Shough’s potential.
“”I think he (Tyler Shough) is going to be an absolute steal in this class, I really do,” McShay said during an appearance on the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show.
Kyle Crabbs of The 33rd Team echoed that sentiment, offering a compelling NFL comparison for the 6-foot-5 quarterback.
Crabbs likened Shough to longtime pro Josh McCown, a versatile and reliable veteran with a lengthy NFL career. (Although Shough figures to have a higher upside.)
The outlet also gave Shough a third-round grade, placing him squarely in the conversation as a Day 2 pick.
In his final collegiate season with Louisville, Shough completed 62.7% of his passes, racking up 3,195 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just six interceptions – a strong showing that’s helped fuel his draft rise.
ESPN analyst Louis Riddick added his voice to the growing chorus of support during a recent segment on Get Up, naming Shough one of the biggest risers in the entire draft class.
“Tyler Shough is the one. … This cat can throw the rock,” Riddick said.
With only a month until the draft, Tyler Shough’s name is quickly becoming one to watch – and if the buzz proves true, he could be one of the biggest surprises of the 2025 quarterback class.
What are your thoughts on all of the hype surrounding Shough?
Do you think he will end up being the biggest steal of the entire draft???
