Russell Wilson Set To Reunite With Pete Carroll In Vegas

In a potential shake-up for the 2025 NFL season, the Las Vegas Raiders could witness the reunion of one of the league’s most successful duos: Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson.

Following a disappointing 4-13 finish this season, the Raiders have already made significant moves to rebuild, starting with the selection of veteran coach Pete Carroll as the team’s new head coach.

The Raiders are now turning their attention to their next big decision: who will lead the team as quarterback.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport has revealed that Russell Wilson is a “strong option,” citing his long-standing relationship with Carroll as a key factor.

Carroll, who previously led the Seattle Seahawks for 14 seasons, joined the Raiders in a move that caught some fans off-guard.

Carroll’s tenure with the Seahawks included a victory in Super Bowl XLVIII where Wilson, then in his second year, led the team to a resounding 43-8 win over the Denver Broncos.

According to Rapoport, Carroll and Wilson “have stuck together” over the years, with their bond remaining strong despite Wilson’s move to the Denver Broncos in 2022 and subsequent stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I understand that Russell Wilson wanted to play for the Raiders last year, which didn’t happen. It’s possible that union will be discussed,” Rapoport reported, confirming that Wilson is a “solid option in Las Vegas.”

As minority owner, Tom Brady is expected to play a pivotal role in selecting the team’s quarterback for next season.

The team’s current options, Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell, underperformed this season, leaving the Raiders as the worst team in the AFC West, while division rivals Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, and Denver Broncos all secured playoff spots.

Brady’s influence and vision for a fresh start could lead to Wilson’s arrival in Las Vegas.

Rapoport made it clear that Wilson’s close ties with Carroll can’t be overlooked. (Interestingly, there was a time not too long ago when it was reported the two couldn’t stand each other.)

Wilson’s 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers started on a high note, with the team achieving a 6-1 record under his leadership after he replaced Justin Fields.

However, a calf injury in Week 7 sidelined Wilson, and while the Steelers made the playoffs with a 10-7 record, they were eliminated in the Wild Card round by the Baltimore Ravens, losing 28-14.

As NFL teams enter the planning stages for the 2025 season, the possibility of a Carroll-Wilson reunion in Las Vegas is already generating buzz.

Carroll’s proven coaching abilities, combined with Wilson’s experience and past success, could mark the start of a new era for the Raiders.
