The Baltimore Ravens suffered a narrow 24–19 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, a game marked by frustrations both on and off the field.
For Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, the sharpest critique came from an unexpected source: his mother.
When reporters questioned Jackson about missed opportunities to use his legs during the game, he revealed, “My momma just told me that. She just cussed me out.”
Jackson elaborated on the feedback, saying, “lanes I should have took and ran. But I was just trying to get guys to develop routes … I was just trying to go through my progression, but yeah, she right.”
The loss extended the Eagles’ winning streak to eight games, thanks in large part to running back Saquon Barkley, who delivered another stellar performance.
Barkley rushed for 107 yards and scored a touchdown, proving instrumental in Philadelphia’s victory.
Baltimore started strong but faltered due to missed opportunities, including two failed field goal attempts and a missed extra point from usually reliable kicker Justin Tucker.
Jackson also faced relentless pressure, taking three sacks during the game.
Despite the loss, Jackson expressed optimism about the team’s next steps. With a bye week ahead, he is eager to return to action against the New York Giants.
“We gonna get after it, I ain’t gonna lie to you,” Jackson said. “We gonna get after it. I can’t wait for this [bye week] to get on. We’ve got the Giants coming up. … I’m just ready to go man.”
The Ravens will use the break to regroup and address their struggles, while the Eagles continue their dominant run, eyeing the postseason with renewed confidence.
As for Jackson, yesterday’s performance did little to silence the critics who feel he shrinks in big games.
He and the Ravens know the only way to change that narrative is to win in the postseason – something they’ve struggled mightily to do.
What are your thoughts on Baltimore this season? … Is this the year they finally get over the hump and reach the Super Bowl???
