The Las Vegas Raiders have made some intriguing moves as they gear up for training camp, adding a couple of veteran players to bolster their roster. On Tuesday, the team brought in safety Jamal Adams and wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Adams, known for his explosive playmaking ability, carved out an impressive reputation during his peak years, making three consecutive Pro Bowls from 2018 to 2020. During that span, he racked up 273 tackles, an eye-popping 19.5 sacks, and six forced fumbles. However, it’s worth noting that the former No. 6 overall pick has been limited to just 15 games in the past three seasons due to injuries. After suffering a torn quadriceps early in the 2022 campaign, he played five games last season with both the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans. Now, Adams is set to reunite with Pete Carroll, his former head coach in Seattle, on a Raiders defense that ranked 15th in yards allowed last season.

Excitingly, reports from NFL insider Jordan Schultz indicate that Adams is in “excellent shape” and feels “the healthiest he’s been in years.” At 29, he joins a revamped secondary that has seen the addition of Jeremy Chinn and Lonnie Johnson Jr. this offseason, especially after losing key safeties Marcus Epps and Tre’von Moehrig.

Turning to Dorsett, it’s been a while since he made an impact on the field. He hasn’t caught an NFL pass since January 1, 2023. The wideout was drafted 29th overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 2015 and began his career there before notable stints with the New England Patriots, where he enjoyed a career-high season in 2016 with 538 receiving yards, followed by an impressive 938 yards and eight touchdowns from 2017 to 2019. Following a challenging period, where injuries derailed his time on the field, Dorsett played for the Seahawks, Jaguars, and Texans in 2021. In 2022, he caught 20 of 40 targets for Houston but did not register a catch during two games with the Denver Broncos in 2023. He spent last season on the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad but never saw the field before his release in May.

Now, Dorsett will look to make an impression in a receiving room led by Jakobi Meyers. The Raiders have also invested in young talent, drafting wide receivers Jach Bech and Dont’e Thornton Jr. in the second and fourth rounds, respectively. Both Adams and Dorsett will face competition for their roster spots when training camp kicks off on Wednesday, as the Raiders look to carve out a formidable squad ahead of the new season.
