Pro Bowl Champion: Cowboys Will Get Rid Of Dak Prescott

The Dallas Cowboys made a significant move yesterday, trading for 25-year-old quarterback Joe Milton from the New England Patriots.

This acquisition is widely seen as a replacement for backup quarterback Cooper Rush, who left the team in free agency to sign a two-year, $6.2 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

However, six-time Pro Bowler and two-time Super Bowl champion LeSean McCoy raised some eyebrows with a bold comment he made on FS1’s The Facility.

McCoy delivered a clear message to Cowboys starter Dak Prescott, suggesting Milton could be more than just a backup.

“Dak, find a realtor, because Joe Milton got talent, can play,” McCoy said. “I’ll say this, ya’ll laugh and all that but I’ve seen other quarterbacks get paid a lot of money and they move on from them.”

Milton, who had extremely limited playing time with the Patriots, impressed in his one appearance, completing 22 of 29 passes for 241 yards, one touchdown, zero interceptions, and a passer rating of 111.4.

It should be noted that while impressive, that appearance came against a Buffalo Bills team that was playing their backups and seemed to be in a simple defensive scheme.

Regardless, Milton’s performance that game was explosive enough to stir speculation about his future role with the Cowboys.

One thing is for sure, Milton is excited about his new opportunity in Dallas…

“My family grew up a Cowboys fan. My mom always had a Cowboys shirt on. She always talked about them. Living in Texas has been a longtime dream of mine. And now I’m with them. I’m ready to work,” Milton told FOX Sports’ Jordan Schultz.

Having said that, the notion that Dallas is even considering moving on from Prescott is intriguing, especially given that he just recently signed a massive four-year, $240 million extension.

Prescott has been the face of the Cowboys’ offense for years, and his contract suggests the team is committed to him long-term. (Even if some fans are not.)

Before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury in Week 9 last season, Prescott faced struggles. He completed 185 of 286 passes for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, eight interceptions, and posted an 86 passer rating, a far cry from his usual level of play.

However, if Prescott can return to the form that saw him throw for 4,516 yards, 36 touchdowns (leading the NFL), and just nine interceptions in 2023, along with a second-place finish in MVP voting, any concerns over Milton’s presence will likely disappear.

Then again, we all know how things are in Dallas. And now with a talented and ultra-intriguing backup in place, the heat will only ramp up on Prescott.

What are your thoughts on McCoy’s comments? … Was he just saying that for shock-value? Or can you see Milton replacing Dak sooner rather than later???
