Patrick Mahomes Reveals The Regret That Keeps Him Up At Night

Patrick Mahomes has already built a Hall of Fame-worthy career with the Kansas City Chiefs – all before the age of 30.

With three Super Bowl rings already to his name, he’s on the verge of making history by leading Kansas City to an unprecedented three-peat against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday.

However, despite all his success, there’s one loss that still lingers in his mind – and it’s serving as fuel to the fire.

With another Super Bowl on the horizon, Mahomes isn’t getting caught up in conversations about his individual legacy or his place among the all-time greats.

For him, the focus is on what his team has built in Kansas City.

“I care more about the legacy of our team,” Mahomes said. “You know, we’ve put in so much work and worked so hard that I want to be remembered for the team that we are and the team that we built here in Kansas City.

“I never really think about my legacy. I think about all the guys that I’ve played with and how they’ve kind of left their imprint on this team and I want us to be remembered for that.”

A win on Sunday would further cement the Chiefs’ dynasty, but even another Lombardi Trophy may not erase the sting of a past Super Bowl defeat that Mahomes admits still keeps him up at night.

When asked if there was a game that continues to bother him, Mahomes didn’t hesitate to answer.

“The Super Bowl vs. Tampa. Pretty easy,” Mahomes revealed, adding that he still loses sleep over that ugly loss.

That game, Super Bowl LV in February 2021, was a nightmare for Mahomes and the Chiefs.

Facing Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City’s offense never found its rhythm, falling in a crushing 31-9 defeat.

Mahomes finished with 270 yards on 26-of-49 passing, throwing two interceptions and failing to reach the end zone.

He spent most of the game scrambling for his life, as Tampa Bay’s dominant defensive front overwhelmed a depleted Chiefs offensive line.

Following that nightmare loss, Kansas City made a point to rebuild its offensive line.

The adjustments sure paid off and the Chiefs have since reached three straight Super Bowls behind and new and improved o-line.

Now, heading into a fascinating Super Bowl rematch with the Eagles, Mahomes knows he’ll have to be at his very best once again.

A win would not only complete a historic three-peat but further solidify the Chiefs’ dominance.

And while no victory will erase the sting of Super Bowl LV, another ring might make those sleepless nights a little easier.

What are your thoughts on Sunday’s matchup? … Will Mahomes and the Chiefs actually pull off the historic three-peat???
