As OTA sessions come to a close across the NFL, teams are still making critical adjustments to their rosters. The Green Bay Packers made a notable move by waiving wide receiver Jadon Janke, designating him with an injury. Janke, who joined the Packers just a few weeks ago on May 14, is one of the several wideouts vying for a position as Green Bay looks to solidify its receiving corps. With this latest decision, the Packers now find themselves with 12 receivers on their 90-man roster.

In a related move last week, Green Bay welcomed rookie receiver Sam Brown Jr. from the University of Miami, who will be looking to fight for a coveted spot on the 53-man roster this summer. The competition is heating up, and every roster spot is at a premium.

Jadon Janke’s journey to this point has been quite eventful. After finishing his college career at South Dakota State—where he emerged as one of the standout players in the FCS—he went undrafted in 2024. He initially signed with the Houston Texans but faced an uphill battle during training camp, leading to his release on August 12, 2024. However, he quickly found another opportunity with the Miami Dolphins, where he managed to endear himself minimally, securing a lone reception for six yards in the preseason.

At 6-foot-2 and showcasing impressive athleticism, Janke has the build that NFL teams covet. In his five-year tenure at South Dakota State, he accumulated impressive stats—170 receptions for 2,800 yards and a striking 29 touchdown catches. His final season with the Jackrabbits was particularly notable, as he recorded 57 receptions totaling 946 yards and nine touchdowns.

As the Packers navigate the remainder of the offseason, the spotlight now shifts to whether they will make further roster moves to fill Janke’s position. With training camp looming in July, there’s still plenty of time for teams to finalize their squads and for players like Janke to find new opportunities. It’s a time of change and potential, as every player battles for their chance to leave a mark in the NFL.
