The Buffalo Bills have expanded their ownership group by welcoming 10 new limited partners..
Two of the new partners happen to be women which is particularly meaningful for team owner Terry Pegula.
Pegula emphasized the importance during the NFL owners meetings in Irving, Texas.
“One of the things I wanted to accomplish also was to bring in some women,” Pegula said. “We’ve got two female ambassadors who are very successful business people.
“You know I’ve got three daughters who are involved in the team and hopefully more so in the future, and I think that’s a good thing for them to learn some business acumen and have some female input.”
Pegula’s commitment to female leadership is deeply personal. His wife, Kim Pegula, played a vital role in the Bills organization until suffering a debilitating cardiac arrest two and a half years ago. Her absence continues to impact the family and the team.
“When Kim went down, that was a big loss of influence on my daughters as far as the business side goes … She’s unable to be involved now,” Pegula sadly shared.
Kim Pegula’s health struggles have been profound.
In an essay for The Players’ Tribune earlier this year, their daughter, professional tennis player Jessica Pegula, detailed the aftermath of her mother’s cardiac arrest shortly after her 53rd birthday in June 2022.
Kim Pegula now faces “significant expressive aphasia and memory issues” as a result of a brain injury.
Despite her challenges, Kim Pegula made a public appearance in July, stepping into a team huddle post-practice. Her presence, though limited, continues to inspire those around her.
“We all miss her, especially I do,” Terry Pegula said. “She was always the personal part of it, sending out Christmas cards, making cookies for the coaches.
“She’d be up at 3 o’clock in the morning every Sunday when we played making cookies for the coaches. We all miss that.”
What are your thoughts on the sad situation???
