Controversial FS1 personality Joy Taylor is facing backlash this week after voicing her skepticism about the Cincinnati Bengals’ decision to extend wide receiver Tee Higgins.
On a recent episode of FS1’s Speak, Taylor expressed surprise that the Bengals chose to give Higgins a long-term deal, especially considering the team had already made Ja’Marr Chase the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history with a four-year, $161 million contract.
“It’s not that Tee Higgins didn’t deserve to get paid, I’m just surprised they paid him in Cincinnati,” Taylor said. “If you’re serious about winning championships, yes, you have to have high-level talent on the offensive side of the ball. But you have to have some semblance of a defense as well.”
That take didn’t sit well with Higgins’ mother, Lady Stewart, who wasted no time responding on social media.
“Harpo who dis woman,” Stewart posted on X.
Taylor, who is facing allegations in a bombshell lawsuit, recently returned to Speak after a brief absence from FS1.
She now finds herself in hot water with Higgins’ mother – and she’s not alone.
Stewart also fired back at fellow FS1 commentator Nick Wright, who questioned the team’s future with both wideouts locked up long-term.
“I don’t think this is the best path forward for them to win a championship,” Wright said.
That prompted another fiery response from Stewart: “Shut up d*ck, opps I mean nick.”
Tee Higgins, drafted by the Bengals in 2020, has been a consistent weapon in their offense and is fifth-fastest in franchise history to reach 4,000 receiving yards.
In 2024, he recorded 73 receptions for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns, proving once again he’s more than just a WR 2 behind Chase.
As a matter of fact, Chase made sure the world knows full well that Higgins is WR 1A…
Despite Taylor’s concerns about balancing offensive spending with defensive needs, the Bengals are clearly betting on their star receivers to power another deep playoff run.
Whether it’s the “right path” remains to be seen – but the Bengals’ commitment to Higgins is already sparking serious debate in the football world.
What are your thoughts on Taylor’s comments and Higgins’ mother’s response to them???
