NFL Legend Calls Cam Newton Out On His Craziness

Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has found himself at odds with franchise legend Steve Smith Sr. after making controversial remarks about the team’s culture during his early years.

Newton, who spent 10 of his 11 NFL seasons with the Panthers, recently appeared on Travis Hunter’s podcast, where he described his introduction to the team as a jarring experience.

“My issue was when I was the first pick, I went into a locker room of losers. Guys didn’t know how to win, guys didn’t know how to prepare, it was a culture shock for me,” Newton said.

“The games don’t mean a lot to a lot of people in the league like you would expect. It’s just money. Not everybody has the ability to be impact players, they’re just players.”

Those comments didn’t sit well with Smith Sr., who spent 13 seasons in Carolina before finishing his career with the Baltimore Ravens.

The former star wide receiver, who played alongside Newton from 2011 to 2013, expressed his frustration on social media.

“I’ve watched & listened from a far as U @CameronNewton talk about @Panthers! None of us are perfect. Yes We were 2-14 before you blessed us w ur presence. The way you have talked about @panthers lately I’m very disappointed. I wish u nothing but the very best. I’m done !!!” Smith posted on X.

Newton, who led Carolina to a Super Bowl appearance in the 2015 season before falling to the Denver Broncos 24-10, has transitioned to sports media since his last NFL season in 2021.

He hosts his own podcast and frequently appears on ESPN.

Newton recently came under fire for admitting he values winning the MVP award more than winning a Super Bowl.

Of course, many fans pointed out the hypocrisy of Newton criticizing the “loser” culture in Carolina while also revealing that he values individual awards more than team accomplishments.

What are your thoughts on Newton’s comments and Smith’s response to them???
