Fans of NFL drama were once again treated to a round of verbal sparring between former Dallas Cowboys teammates Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.
The beef between the two defensive stars reignited following Lawrence’s $42 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks in free agency earlier this month.
The tension quickly escalated when Lawrence accused Parsons of prioritizing social media over football, a comment that clearly struck a nerve with the Cowboys’ All-Pro linebacker.
Parsons, known for his fiery competitiveness, wasted no time firing back during an interview with All City DLLS.
“I think it’s ridiculous,” he said. “You watch the tape. There’s no question I’m locked in. I’m giving my actual best effort out there on the field, which I think that’s all that matters.”
Parsons was adamant about his dedication to the game, even addressing the differences in how people choose to unwind or stay connected.
“Everyone has their selection of how they want to deal with things. Some people drink. Some people smoke. I like to tweet,” he said. “I like to be active and know about ball. I like to know what everyone else is doing. And that’s just me.
“I don’t drink. I don’t smoke. What I care about is the effort you give me on the football field, and that’s something you can’t question. I know I’m one of the best players and as long as I’m performing that way, it shouldn’t matter.
“When you jump offside on the goal line, is that because I’m tweeting? I think it’s ridiculous, outrageous.”
The war of words between the two started earlier this offseason when Lawrence made a pointed remark after leaving the Cowboys, saying he knew he wouldn’t win a Super Bowl with the team.
That comment drew an immediate response from Parsons, who fired back with a personal insult.
“This what rejection and envy look like… this some clown sh*t,” Parsons posted on X in response to Lawrence’s criticism of the team.
Lawrence wasn’t going to let that slide, and his rebuttal came quickly. He dismissed the insult, writing: “Calling me a clown won’t change the fact that I told the truth. Maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning, I wouldn’t have left.”
While their back-and-forth seemed to quiet down after that, it appears the feud is far from over.
Parsons has now revisited the tension, and it’s only a matter of time before Lawrence responds, likely with another comment or appearance on a podcast to settle the score.
Before signing his three-year contract with the Seahawks, Lawrence expressed a desire to remain with the Cowboys, stating that staying would have been “a glorious thing.”
However, after leaving, Lawrence didn’t hold back, stating that the team wouldn’t win a Super Bowl during his career.
In the midst of the social media squabble with Parsons, Lawrence posted a heartfelt farewell letter to the Cowboys, revealing that there may be some lingering emotions about his time in Dallas.
As the Cowboys work to shore up their defense and take the next step in their pursuit of a Super Bowl, they still need to address Micah Parsons’ contract situation.
The four-time Pro Bowler enters the final year of his rookie deal, and while extension talks are ongoing, no significant progress has been made.
As Parsons continues to play at an elite level, the Cowboys will need to make sure they lock him down for the future.
The drama between Parsons and Lawrence is just one of many storylines to keep an eye on this offseason for the Cowboys, as they navigate contract negotiations and strive to build a championship-caliber team.
