In a significant roster move on Friday, the Miami Dolphins and veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. mutually agreed to part ways.
This marks the second time in Beckham’s career that he’s been placed on waivers, signaling his intent to find a team that offers both a stronger role and a legitimate shot at a playoff run.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero shed light on Beckham’s potential landing spots, revealing that the star wideout has a shortlist of teams he’s interested in joining.
“I am told Beckham has a short list of teams that he would want to play for,” Pelissero said. “Now it’s not entirely clear where that list begins and ends. Though obviously there’s a couple of teams that he’s played with before that are in the playoff chase.”
While Beckham’s best statistical days – most notably his streak of 1,000-yard seasons – are well in the past, his experience make him a valuable asset for a contender in need of receiver depth.
Pelissero mentioned two potential fits for Beckham: the Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Rams, both of whom he’s played for previously.
Each team is firmly in the playoff race and could benefit from bolstering their wide receiver corps.
“The focus for Beckham is to land in the right situation,” Pelissero added. “He’s on waivers until 4PM ET (today). If he clears, he would be free to sign wherever he wants.”
Beckham’s 2024 season with the Dolphins has been extremely disappointing.
He managed just nine receptions for 55 yards on 18 targets in nine games, playing behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.
Miami’s offense also struggled without starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who missed significant time due to a concussion.
As the clock ticks on the waiver process, the NFL world waits to see where Beckham will land.
Beckham’s best days are clearly behind him. Considering his lack of explosiveness and overall production, it’s fair to wonder if he’s even able to contribute to any team’s playoff run.
Having said that, where do you think he will wind up landing? … Just how much does he have left in the tank???
