Kelly Stafford, wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, recently revealed a moment of vulnerability regarding musician Taylor Swift’s presence at NFL games.
During a candid conversation with co-host Hank Winchester on her “The Morning After” podcast, Kelly admitted feeling a twinge of jealousy over the intense focus on Swift, whose attendance at Kansas City Chiefs games has been an ongoing storyline for some.
The 35-year-old mother of four expressed her mixed feelings, explaining how she felt the NFL’s coverage of Swift often overshadowed the games themselves.
However, Kelly made it clear that her feelings weren’t rooted in any resentment toward the musician.
In fact, she praised Swift for inspiring a whole new demographic to tune into the sport.
“I am so thankful for her in a lot of ways because there are so many more women watching, there are little girls watching with their dads and I do think it definitely makes my girls love football more, knowing that she’s adjacent to it,” Kelly said.
Adding a personal touch, Kelly admitted that Swift’s influence has even impacted her daughters’ view of their father’s career.
“I honestly think my girls are prouder of their dad because he’s playing the sport that Taylor Swift loves,” Kelly said.
Shortly after the podcast dropped, Kelly doubled down on her admiration for Swift.
She posted a video clip on Instagram, recounting the experience of attending Swift’s Eras Tour concert in New Orleans with her family.
Kelly enthusiastically recalled the day, beginning with a laugh, “That concert, holy sh*t. It was the most amazing day.”
In a special surprise, Kelly and Matthew Stafford had taken their two young daughters to New Orleans without revealing their destination.
Once onboard a private jet decorated with Swift-themed decor and bracelet-making kits, the girls finally realized they were headed to see Taylor live in concert.
“What an experience this whole thing is,” Kelly said about the actual concert. “It was just one of those things that you’ll never forget with your kids.”
While Kelly admitted she was initially jealous of the attention Swift was getting, she said her feelings have since changed.
Having said that, it goes without saying that many football fans have grown sick and tired of all the attention that’s focused on Swift at games.
What are your thoughts on Kelly’s jealousy admission???
