Jon Gruden Could Be Nearing Return To This NFL Team

The New Orleans Saints remain the only NFL team without a head coach, but that is expected to change shortly after Super Bowl LIX.

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has emerged as the frontrunner for the position, and barring any last-minute complications, he is expected to be named the next head coach once the season concludes on Sunday.

If Moore indeed lands the job, his next priority will be filling out his coaching staff – starting with an offensive coordinator.

According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, former NFL head coach Jon Gruden could be a serious candidate for the role.

Gruden is no stranger to the Saints organization, having served as an offensive consultant for the team during the 2023 season.

Additionally, he has a strong working relationship with quarterback Derek Carr, whom he coached during his tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders from 2018 to 2021.

Gruden’s coaching career took a turn when he resigned from the Raiders following the leaking of past emails containing controversial language from his time as an ESPN analyst.

Despite the scandal, his coaching résumé remains notable, with 15 years of head coaching experience and a career record of 117-112 across 229 games.

He’s also a Super Bowl champion who has proven to be one of the strongest leaders in the NFL.

As for the Saints, they are coming off a disappointing 5-12 season and hold the ninth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

With several roster needs to address, the team has plenty of options heading into the offseason.

For now, all eyes are on Moore’s potential hiring and whether Florio’s report regarding Gruden gains traction. One thing is for sure – we won’t have to wait too long to find out.

What are your thoughts on the rumors that Gruden could soon be heading to New Orleans???
