The New Orleans Saints find themselves with the No. 9 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and as we dive into the world of mock drafts, things are certainly heating up. With a high-stakes selection looming, the question on many fans’ minds is whether the Saints can snag a franchise quarterback to lead them into the future.

Unfortunately, at No. 9, it seems unlikely they’ll land a prospect like Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. Given their impressive performances, both are projected to go much higher, potentially even within the top three picks. Ward is a consensus No. 1 choice, and while Sanders has garnered significant attention and could be a candidate for the No. 2 or No. 3 overall pick, the chances of him slipping to the Saints appear slim.

However, the buzz surrounding Sanders has been hard to ignore. Recently, his father, Deion Sanders, shared insights about Shedeur’s mindset as he considers his potential landing spots. What’s clear is that New Orleans hasn’t been ruled out as a possibility. Deion expressed confidence in his son’s ability, stating, “Shedeur has told me, he’s talked to me about intently about all of the visits that he has had with all of the teams… If it’s New York, it’s New York. If it’s Tennessee, if it’s Cleveland, if it’s still the Raiders, if it’s New Orleans. If it’s any of those teams that are seeking a quarterback, I’m happy with them, man. Because I know what he’s going to do.”

Currently, the Saints have Derek Carr at the helm, but he may not represent a long-term solution for the franchise. His tenure may extend another season or two, but seeking a younger, dynamic talent like Sanders could solidify the quarterback position for years to come. Fans hoping for a dramatic shift this draft should temper expectations for now, as the path to acquiring a top-tier quarterback might require a bit more maneuvering than simply waiting at No. 9.
