Hated Rival Trying To Snatch Key Weapon From Eagles

As Dallas Goedert’s contract heads into its final year, trade rumors surrounding the veteran tight end continue to swirl.

The timing of the speculation isn’t coincidental. Goedert’s cap hit for 2025 is set at $11.81 million, and should the Philadelphia Eagles trade him after June 1, they could save roughly $4.05 million in cap space, albeit while absorbing a dead cap hit of $7.7 million.

The trade buzz is only intensifying due to recent offseason moves. The Eagles added Kylen Granson and Harrison Bryant to their tight end corps, which raises the question: is Philadelphia preparing to part ways with Goedert?

Interestingly, the rival New York Giants have reportedly “looked into” trading for Goedert, according to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.

The Giants’ interest underscores the growing attention teams across the league are giving Goedert’s situation.

With the NFL Draft just around the corner, this new wrinkle further fuels speculation about the tight end’s future in Philadelphia.

Despite the mounting trade talk, Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman downplayed the notion that Goedert’s contract status would influence their strategy in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Roseman did leave the door open for a tight end selection if the right prospect is available. Even with trade discussions ongoing, Philadelphia’s front office is keeping their options open.

Amid the trade chatter, one name continues to surface: Mason Taylor. The LSU tight end, son of Hall of Famer Jason Taylor, has solidified himself as one of the top tight ends in the 2025 class.

At 6’5” and 255 pounds, Taylor is known for his impressive blend of size, athleticism, and football IQ.

His polished route-running and ability to make crucial catches in traffic, particularly in the red zone, have made him an attractive option for teams in need of a reliable tight end.

Rumors indicate that the Eagles have shown interest in Taylor during the pre-draft process, viewing him as a potential long-term fit within their offense.

Should they decide to move on from Goedert, Taylor could be the kind of dynamic player that fits into Philadelphia’s system.

In his 2024 season at LSU, Taylor set a new benchmark for the school’s tight ends, recording 55 receptions for 546 yards and 2 touchdowns, marking a single-season reception record for LSU tight ends.

Over the course of his college career, Taylor accumulated 129 receptions, 1,308 yards, and 6 touchdowns.

With the Eagles picking at No. 32 overall in next week’s draft, Taylor could be a viable option for them – though not necessarily as an immediate replacement for Goedert.

Instead, he could represent a long-term investment in Philadelphia’s already dynamic offense. If the Eagles are indeed considering a future without Goedert, adding a high-upside prospect like Taylor would only strengthen their position moving forward.

What are your thoughts on the growing calls for the Eagles to trade Goedert? … Do you think Philly would actually do business with the hated Giants???
