Former NFL wide receiver and current NFL Network analyst Steve Smith Sr. is facing allegations of an extramarital affair with a woman linked to the Baltimore Ravens Marching Band.

The accusations surfaced over the weekend, reportedly from a man claiming to be the woman’s husband.

Smith, who has been married for 20 years, has not publicly addressed the claims. However, his former Ravens teammate Shannon Sharpe has stepped in to defend him.

Speaking on their Nightcap podcast, Sharpe and co-host Chad Johnson watched a video allegedly showing a man named Tony Martinez calling Smith to confront him about the alleged affair.

In the clip, a voice presumed to be Smith simply responds, “I’m sorry.”

Sharpe, who has faced his own share of social media controversies, argued that the blame should not be placed on Smith but rather handled privately within the marriage.

“I’ve known Smitty 20 years,” Sharpe said. “He was just at my party at the Super Bowl, had a great conversation with him. I love the guy. Hard nosed, the way he plays, X, Y and Z. But bro, you need to take that up with your wife. Smitty owes you no loyalty.”

Sharpe continued, emphasizing that the responsibility lies within the marriage itself.

“I don’t know the gentleman’s name but this a situation you have to handle with your wife. She has the loyalty clause. She’s the one that has an obligation to you,” Sharpe added.

The accusations first surfaced on X from an account belonging to Tony Martinez. However, the account has since been deleted, leaving only screenshots and saved videos as evidence of the original claims.

As of now, neither Smith nor NFL Network has commented publicly on the situation.

It remains to be seen if Smith will address the allegations or if the controversy will fade along with the now-vanished social media account.

On that note, one of Smith’s children addressed the controversy on his Instagram page.

“Your kind words and prayers are felt and appreciated. God’s got us,” Smith’s son Peyton posted alongside a photo of him and his three siblings with their mom, Angie.

“I won’t take much time feeding into the negativity, but to those sending hateful messages to my family, I hope you take time to reflect that you have nothing better to do with your day than to message hate to a stranger.”
