A resurfaced clip featuring Tom Brady’s candid advice to Shedeur Sanders is gaining attention online – and with good reason.
The exchange, which originally aired during a podcast appearance with Deion and Shedeur Sanders, is now being viewed in a new light following the Colorado quarterback’s shocking slide to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
What once seemed like a light-hearted jab from the seven-time Super Bowl champion now feels like a prophetic warning.
In the now-viral clip, Deion Sanders playfully asks Brady for his opinion on Shedeur driving a Rolls-Royce while still in college.
Brady responds with a blunt suggestion that carries more weight in hindsight: “I think he needs to get his ass in the film room and spend as much time in there as possible, with less time in the car and more time in the film room.”
Though the line was delivered with a chuckle, it underscored concerns that many NFL scouts reportedly held behind closed doors.
Not only were many evaluators worried about Sanders’ true talent, but they were also concerned about his attitude, focus, preparation, and leadership.
Once considered a top-three pick, Shedeur Sanders tumbled all the way to No. 144, where he was finally selected by the Cleveland Browns.
Several reports have pointed to Sanders’ disappointing pre-draft process.
According to league insiders, teams like the New York Giants were reportedly put off by what they saw as undeserved cockiness and a lack of professionalism in interviews.
Now in Cleveland, Sanders faces a new kind of challenge – earning a spot in the NFL’s most crowded quarterback room, alongside Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and rookie Dillon Gabriel. (Oh, and Deshaun Watson is technically still there as well.)
More than ever, Brady’s advice rings true: this is no longer about flash. It’s about grinding for a chance to play.
Brady, who was famously selected 199th overall in 2000, knows something about proving doubters wrong. In fact, he shared recently that he texted Sanders after the draft, offering encouragement.
“I actually texted Shedeur because I know him very well, and I said, ‘Dude, whatever happens, wherever you go, that’s your first day. Day two matters more than the draft,” Brady said.
“I was [pick number] 199. Yeah. So, who could speak on it better than me, what that really means? Use it as motivation. You’re gonna get your chances. Go take advantage of it.’”
Of course, many fans found it interesting that the Las Vegas Raiders showed no interest in drafting Sanders, despite Tom Brady reportedly having a significant voice in football decisions.
Regardless, Brady’s words have now become more than just a viral clip – they’ve become a challenge.
Will Shedeur Sanders double down on image, or take the advice to heart and put in the work behind the scenes?
What are your thoughts on the whole Sanders situation???
