Dan Orlovsky has become a staple of ESPN’s NFL coverage, but his role at the network for the 2025 season remains uncertain.

The former NFL quarterback has been a key contributor on shows like Get Up and NFL Live, but during a recent appearance on First Take, Orlovsky hinted that his time as a broadcaster could be coming to an end – at least for now.

“This is the end of the season for me … I’m taking a break, won’t be on TV for a long time,” Orlovsky said.

“I just want to say thank you to you guys, Stephen A., Molly, Shannon for a great season. I loved being with you guys. I love you all. You never know what the future holds, but I’m taking a break.”

His comments immediately fueled speculation that he could be making the jump from the broadcast booth to the sidelines.

On Tuesday, Orlovsky congratulated Kellen Moore on becoming the next head coach of the New Orleans Saints.

The two were once teammates with the Detroit Lions, and Orlovsky’s message to Moore only added to the belief that he could be on the move to New Orleans.

“Happy for a good friend. Very smart. Multiple places over last 4 years. Seen it done a lot of ways. Find your QB!!” Orlovsky posted on X.

NFL fans quickly connected the dots, with many convinced that Orlovsky is set to join Moore’s staff in New Orleans – potentially as the Saints’ new quarterbacks coach.

“Stepping away from ESPN to be OC or QB coach of the Saints?” one fan posted.

“Dan Orlovsky is taking a job with Kellen Moore and the New Orleans Saints. It’s inevitable,” another fan declared.

“Rumors are you the QB coach, also you said you won’t be on TV for a few years … you’re signing the deal,” said another.

While there is no confirmed deal between Orlovsky and the Saints at this time, Front Office Sports reported this week that he would consider leaving ESPN for an NFL coaching opportunity.

Orlovsky spent over a decade in the league (2005-2017), throwing for 3,132 yards, 15 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions during his career.

Now, it appears a transition from analyst to coach could be on the horizon – and there are some who feel he has the potential to be a true difference maker on the sidelines.

Whether Moore and the Saints or another NFL team come calling remains to be seen, but one thing is clear – Orlovsky’s next move will be closely watched in the coming weeks.

There is also the question over current quarterback Derek Carr’s future. Interestingly, Orlovsky’s “find your QB!!” message was quite revealing.

What are your thoughts on the rumors that Orlovsky could be joining Moore’s staff in New Orleans? … Are you one of those who feel he could end up being Sean McVay 2.0???
