The Miami Dolphins are facing a tough blow as starting cornerback Kader Kohou has been sidelined for the entire season due to a knee injury sustained during practice. Head Coach Mike McDaniel confirmed on Wednesday that Kohou will be placed on injured reserve, marking a significant loss for the team’s secondary.

Kohou’s injury occurred during one-on-one drills, where he limped off the field, aided by a member of the medical staff. McDaniel expressed his disappointment, stating, “I saw him ascend to a different level this offseason.” Yet, amidst the setback, Kohou’s positive outlook shone through. The coach reflected on their conversation, remarking how Kohou’s mindset helped alleviate some of that disappointment. “This is tough but I guarantee I’m going to come back better,” Kohou told McDaniel, a testament to his resilient attitude and approach to both the game and life.

Since joining the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2022, Kohou quickly established himself as Miami’s starting nickel corner, notably being the only returning starter from a secondary that’s undergone sweeping changes. To address this sudden void, the Dolphins wasted no time, signing nickel cornerback Mike Hilton shortly after Kohou’s injury.

In addition to Kohou’s situation, the Dolphins are also monitoring safety Ashtyn Davis, who left practice early due to a left leg injury sustained during team drills. Davis appeared frustrated after the incident, spending extended time on the ground before needing assistance to exit the field. While the medical staff attended to him, he later returned to the locker room on crutches and with a walking boot on his left foot.

McDaniel acknowledged the anxiety that comes with non-contact injuries but reassured that, in Davis’ case, “it wasn’t the worst” outcome. Although he will undergo further evaluation in the coming days, the good news is that this injury isn’t expected to take Davis out for the entire season.

As the Dolphins navigate these challenges, the resilience and determination of their players will be key in maintaining momentum through the season. Fans will be eager to see how the team adapts as they strive to rise above these setbacks.
