In a move that’s sure to shake up the NFL landscape, Cooper Kupp is now available on the free-agent market after being released by the Los Angeles Rams. This isn’t just any player we’re talking about. Kupp, the offensive juggernaut who earned the title of 2021 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, led the league that season with remarkable statistics—receptions, yards, and touchdowns. He also boasts an impressive résumé that includes a first-team All-Pro selection and a Super Bowl MVP trophy.

However, Kupp’s recent history has been a rollercoaster, with a subpar 2022 season where he managed just 67 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns across 12 games. The 31-year-old wideout has faced his share of injury woes over the past three seasons, missing a total of 18 games. Still, when healthy, he’s proven to be an impactful player, and teams are likely keen to capitalize on that talent.

Despite his injury struggles, Kupp’s previous form—three consecutive seasons with 92 or more catches and two seasons exceeding 1,150 yards—cements his reputation as a valuable asset in any offense. It’s no wonder there’s a buzz around his availability, with many teams eager to secure his services.

According to reports, about 12 teams have already shown interest in Kupp, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter shed light on a few teams that may be leading the charge to sign him. Among those names, the Seattle Seahawks, New England Patriots, and Denver Broncos have emerged as early favorites.

Seattle might emerge as a particularly strong contender. Kupp is a native of Washington and played college ball at nearby Eastern Washington University. With the Seahawks’ recent moves, including the release of Tyler Lockett and the trade of DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers, there’s an immediate gap for a talented wide receiver to fill, making Kupp’s fit in Seattle seem almost seamless.

On the flip side, the Patriots are grappling with their own pressing need for an impact receiver. Kupp’s connections to the team—especially his ties with fellow wideout Kendrick Bourne and passing game coordinator Thomas Brown, who worked with Kupp during his time at the Rams—could play a significant role in drawing him to New England.

As the landscape unfolds in the coming days, Kupp’s next destination will be one of the most watched storylines in the NFL. Whether he heads to the rainy Pacific Northwest or re-establishes roots in Foxborough, one thing is clear: Kupp’s impact on the field could soon be felt once again.
