Contender Eyes Trade For Unhappy A.J. Brown

Following a disastrous 2024 season, the New England Patriots are attempting to get things back on track.

Owner Robert Kraft was lucky to get another crack at hiring Mike Vrabel as head coach. That’s certainly a solid step in the right direction.

Now, the organization is tasked with trying to improve their roster. It’s no secret that they have several key holes to fill and wide receiver is certainly one of them.

On that note, the Patriots are reportedly exploring an ambitious trade to acquire star wide receiver A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles.

In his own unique way, Brown has passive-aggressively made it clear that he’s not thrilled with his role in the Eagles’ offense.

Brown’s overall unhappiness in Philadelphia has led many to believe that he will be shipped out of town at the conclusion of the season.

New England is said to be one of the teams who will most aggressively pursue Brown in the trade market.

The Patriots initially identified Cincinnati Bengals wideout Tee Higgins as a primary target for their offense.

Higgins, who enjoyed a strong 2024 season, seemed like a logical fit for New England.

With the Bengals juggling massive contract extensions for Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, the team’s financial outlook may force them to part ways with Higgins.

Some believe that the Patriots’ interest in Higgins has shifted as another opportunity surfaced: the possibility of reuniting Brown with Vrabel.

Vrabel’s arrival in New England has added intrigue to the Brown rumors.

During his tenure as head coach of the Tennessee Titans, Vrabel coached Brown and famously objected to the Titans’ decision to trade the Pro Bowl receiver to Philadelphia in 2022.

Acquiring Brown would likely require a hefty trade package, including premium draft picks and possibly a young player.

However, the Patriots believe the move could be transformative for their offense, which struggled mightily at times this season despite the emergence of rookie quarterback Drake Maye.

Brown, known for his explosive ability to create plays downfield, would provide a much-needed weapon for Maye and elevate New England’s passing game.

For the Eagles, trading Brown would signal a significant shift, but it might also offer them an opportunity to replenish their roster with younger, cost-controlled talent.

Despite Brown’s immense value, the dynamics between player and team seem increasingly strained, making a deal plausible if the price is right.

While the trade remains speculative at this stage, the Patriots are closely monitoring Brown’s status with the Eagles.

Should Philadelphia signal a willingness to entertain offers, New England is expected to be among the first teams to inquire.

What are your thoughts on the rumors that the Patriots will trade for Brown? … What should the Eagles ask for in-return???
