CJ Gardner-Johnson is one of those players who knows how to make noise both on and off the field. His impressive talent on the gridiron is often matched by the drama that seems to follow him away from the game.
Recently, Gardner-Johnson’s ex-girlfriend, Summer Bunni, brought that drama back into the spotlight. In a bold move, she released a voice note accusing him of some pretty serious behavior, including allegedly targeting Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers. “It’s going to get real bad,” Bunni ominously predicted.
But Bunni’s remarks weren’t just limited to voice notes. She took to Instagram, putting Gardner-Johnson in the crosshairs with stories that paint him in an unfavorable light. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Gardner-Johnson in hot water with Bunni either.
If we rewind to March 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles made headlines when they decided to trade Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans. In return, they netted offensive guard Kenyon Green and a 2026 5th-round draft pick. Gardner-Johnson had a noteworthy run with the Eagles, including three tackles in a recent Super Bowl and a standout 2024 season where he matched his career high of six interceptions over 16 games.
Yet even with his on-field success, controversy off the field seems to follow. Just days after his Super Bowl triumph with the Eagles, he found himself in the midst of another scandal. Instagram model Summer Bunni, who shares two children with Gardner-Johnson, didn’t hold back in accusing him of being an absentee father. She also alleged threatening behavior directed at their daughter just before Super Bowl 59.
And it seems this turbulent relationship goes back even further. In 2020, Bunni claimed that Gardner-Johnson had pointed firearms at her, a shocking accusation made public when she tagged his then-team, the New Orleans Saints, in a social media post showing guns on her bed. This series of events has certainly kept Gardner-Johnson in the headlines, just not always for reasons related to his skill on the football field.
