Calls Intensify For Andy Reid To Retire After Horrendous No-Show

After leading the Kansas City Chiefs to five Super Bowl appearances and three titles, Andy Reid is now facing some major heat.

As a matter of fact, Kansas City’s Super Bowl loss to the Eagles was so inexplicably ugly that many fans are calling for him to retire. (Which is better than wanting him fired, I guess.)

Despite being one of the winningest coaches in NFL history, Reid’s future is suddenly a topic of debate.

Surprisingly, it’s not just fans who want Reid to disappear.

FOX Sports Radio host Rob Parker made it clear that Sunday’s loss was so horrific that Reid owes it to Chiefs fans to step down once and for all.

“Andy Reid should step down as head coach of the Chiefs… This fall off the cliff is two years in the making,” Parker said.

Reid has led Kansas City to an astonishing seven straight AFC Championship Games and has a 143-53 record as the franchise’s head coach.

However, that hasn’t stopped some fans from echoing Parker’s sentiment.

In the aftermath of the Super Bowl loss to the Eagles, social media was flooded with reactions questioning Reid’s future.

“Clearly the team was unprepared. Andy Reid should retire,” one fan posted.

“It wouldn’t be surprising if Andy Reid retires soon. The poor guy can barely walk. He doesn’t need the stress of trying to win another Super Bowl. He’s already in the Hall of Fame and has nothing to prove. He needs to enjoy his life and his family,” another fan added.

“Andy Reid should probably just retire after the game,” said another.

Despite the heat, Reid has zero plans to step away. “Yes, I’ll be back,” he confirmed.

Reid is widely-regarded as one of the greatest and most respected coaches in NFL history. He currently ranks fourth all-time in career wins.

Interestingly, he only trails Don Shula by 46 wins, a mark he could reach if all goes well over the next few seasons.

However, Reid insists he isn’t coaching for records.

“That’s not part of it,” he admitted. “I just enjoy teaching. I don’t get caught up much in the stats or the records. I enjoy being around the guys. I enjoy football, the game. You can’t put in the hours we do and not enjoy it. I love the game.”

I think I speak for 97% of the world when I say any calls for Reid to step down are absolutely ridiculous. (I’m sure Parker is just looking for attention.)

Having said that, what the hell happened on Sunday???

Let’s be honest, not only was it the worst performance of Patrick Mahomes’ career – it was also the worst of Reid’s career as well. (And yes, I’m counting his Philly days.)

Regardless, I think we all expect Reid and the Chiefs to bounce back in a big way next season. Although they most likely will never have another shot at a historic Super Bowl three-peat. (What a wasted opportunity.)

What are your thoughts on all of the heat and criticism that Reid has been getting? … By any chance are YOU one of the few who think he should step down???
